In the early 1950' s as the ROC economy gradually began to grow 1950 a wide number
of industries found themselves in the early stages of development. The China Productivity
Center (CPC) was established on November 11, 1955 with the express purpose of assisting
those fledgling industries enhance productivity. It was both the first and the largest
management consulting agency established in the ROC.
As the ROC economy has continued to develop, industry has made dramatic progress
and in many cases been transformed. As a result, the CPC's mission and objectives
have been correspondingly revised to reflect this new industrial environment. In
the period 1950-1970 the ROC economy first took off and the CPC focused on helping
enterprises improve productivity. During the “quality-first” 1980's, the CPC worked
tirelessly to assist enterprises make total quality improvements. In the 1990's
industry entered an era of total competition and the CPC's focus was to ensure enterprises
did everything possible to become more competitive. In the early years of the twenty-first
century, the arrival of the knowledge economy means that the CPC has had to reposition
itself and is now a leading brand in the promotion of active innovation, creating
value and increasing knowledge in all local enterprises.
